The Wise Man's Fear (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #2)The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The story is fantastic, absolutely fantastic. I love the world he has created, the characters are great and complex, it is very original. Truly amazing. Although, he has all the originality and brilliancy of Tolkien without any of the grace, class, and virtue. There was far too much sex and talk of such in this book among other things! That said it was no where written like a harlequin, it did hold some grace; but no, just no! One of the reasons Tolkien and Lewis were great was because they wrote stories without any of that in it. We all know it goes on, but not all of us want to read about it. There are ways of letting a reader know without focusing on it page after page. The only other thing was sometimes the story (in both books) has lagged in some ways. I usually like a book where I forget the time that’s going by around me, and I can completely be in the story. This one does do that at times, but at others it lulls and drags; making it feel more like a chore to read so you can get through to where it again can take you away. I don’t think I’d call the books long winded, but sometimes you do feel like you’ve gotta be in it for the long haul. That said I do love detail (and these books have an abundance of it), so it’s a trade off. Again, a great story, but could use some editing. With that editing it could be something to behold and remember for years to come; a true gem among stories and books. In the end it is a book I like and at the same time do not like, but the talent and brilliancy behind it cannot be denied. Patrick is very talented, I hope he does better with book three.

Loni and I had a whole crew come out and watch us last night filming and help out where they could. So much fun :)

Loni’s first video for her youtube channel. We recorded the music on my equipment. Went out last night with only about 20 minutes of light left in the day and recorded the video. Not bad for scrambling to put it together and filming it on a $40 vivitar camera. So, be sure to check this out, give her some good feedback and subscribe to her channel! :)
